What is PastelFest?
In the spirit of the IAPS convention we wanted to present a mini version of that, providing our members and guests with a day completely devoted to all things PASTEL. For starters, there will be exploration tables dedicated to:
- Pastels. A variety of brands and colors and sets. It will be your chance to try something new!
- Surfaces. Sanded, velvet, cork, mounted, recycled, homemade panels...about everything you can think of and plenty of samples to try.
- Gadgets. All kinds of fun things to make your pastel journey easier.
In addition, there will be:
- Two spectacular pastel artists, Donna Yeager and Donna Paul, who will each do a painting from the same reference photo. You'll be able to see how these pastel veterans put it all together and witness their own unique ways of interpreting the photograph.
- Demos throughout the day, plus expert pastelists to answer your pastel-related questions.
- A gallery of MAPS member paintings. This is where you come in! Bring a favorite framed painting for our version of "Show and Tell." This is always popular with our members.
- Your pastel friends! It's a great opportunity to meet new people or catch up with your pastel buddies from Wayback!
- Plus - Door Prizes!
Other things you might wonder about:
- This is for MAPS members, but feel free to bring a friend.
- We'll have lunch available. (There will be a minimal charge.)
- And if you’re from out of town but always wanted to visit KC and meet your fellow members, this is a great opportunity.
- There will be more - believe it or not, people are still coming up with great ideas.
